Family Ties Network 10th Anniversary Exhibition

So Happy to announce that my dummy book Sorrow will be on show as part of the Family Ties 10th Anniversary Exhibition. The Shadow Lands series examines my response to my brother's death. Each book investigates and documents my feeling of loss and creates a personal world in which he continues to exist.

The book of Sorrow is the most autobiographical of the 3 books , Sorrow shown here, describes the absolute sorrow, that you only feel when you lose someone and the inevitable desolation at their absence, each image is laid on a facsimile of my brothers only surviving school book, many pages are left blank illustrating the loss of potential and my own inability to find words to describe that loss and using the language of the death certificate to describe his life.

Sorrow mixes archive images and documents alongside, photographs taken of the land and sea, places we would haunt as children, and that now appear haunting and melancholic to me.

I am really thrilled that this work is to be part of the Family Ties Network 10th Anniversary Exhibition, Family and Other Ties which will take place at UCA Farnham, later it the year
